October 2016 – Brickell Bank celebrated Get Smart About Credit Day at William H. Turner Technical Arts High School in Miami. Perry Carter, Manager, Operations and Ashley Sarria, Financial Reporting Analyst visited with the class and spoke about the importance of careful use of credit.

Students received Brickell Bank USB slap bracelets as a reminder of the lessons of the day as seen in the photograph of Mr. Sarria and the students.

Mr. Carter and Mr. Sarria presented the program including interactive activities for the students and a Q&A. Brickell Bank states that, “financial education early in life can make a real impact on the youth of today, especially for those about to enter college or the working world.”

According to the American Bankers Association, “the Get Smart About Credit program is a national campaign of volunteer bankers who work with young people to raise awareness about the importance of using credit wisely.”

Sponsored by the American Bankers Association Community Engagement Foundation, this year more than 5,000 bankers from more than 360 banks participated from across the United States.

Brickell Bank Celebrates Opening of Million Dollar Quartet at Actors’ Playhouse at Lunch with the Stars

Miami, FL – Brickell Bank’s Senior VP of Residential Lending, Raul Vidal, enjoyed the performance of Million Dollar Quartet at the Actor’s Playhouse in Coral Gables so much that he invited the cast for lunch.

Joining Raul for tapas, paella and all things Spanish at Asador 5 Jotas were Artistic Director of Actors’ Playhouse, David Arisco and Million Dollar Quartet stars including: Sky Seals (JOHNNY CASH), Adam Egizi (BROTHER JAY – BASS PLAYER), Jeremy Sevelovitz (CARL PERKINS), Andy Davis (FLUKE – DRUMMER), Jim Ballard (SAM PHILLIPS) and Lindsey Corey (DYANNE).

Brickell Bank is a sponsor of the Mainstage season at Actors’ Playhouse and the season kicked off with Million Dollar QuartetBook by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux. Original concept and direction by Floyd Mutrux. Inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, which runs through January 1, 2017.

According to Actors’ Playhouse, Million Dollar Quartet is the high voltage Tony Award-winning Broadway musical inspired by the famous photo and phenomenal true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time in their careers. On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians were gathered together by Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the most electrifying jam and storytelling sessions of all time. Million Dollar Quartet brings the heart and soul of that legendary night to life with an irresistible tale of excitement and passion, featuring 21 timeless hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Fever,” “Hound Dog” and more.

Annual Tournament Raises Funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation

Brickell Bank was the Birdie sponsor of Mortgage Bankers Association of South Florida’s annual golf tournament on May 6, 2016. The event benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a national 501c3 organization that fulfills “wishes” for children, age 3 to 17, with life-threatening medical conditions.

The tournament took place at Bonaventure Country Club in Weston, FL and the Brickell Bank fielded a foursome including (shown from left to right in photograph of four people) Vito Buonsante, Joaquin Oliver Evelyn Santana-Buonsante and Jesus Carbacos.

Brickell Bank participated in the American Bankers Association annual Teach Children to Save Day on April 29, 2016.

Teach Children to Save Day is an annual awareness campaign whereby, according to the American Bankers Association, “bankers demonstrate their community commitment by teaching young people about the value of saving. Visiting classrooms, youth centers, after school programs and more, bankers use their real-world knowledge and professional skills to encourage young people to start young, and save more.”


Brickell Bank WLRN Radio Challenge Grant a Huge Success

Brickell Bank is proud of our ongoing commitment to supporting the Miami community and particularly WLRN Public Radio 91.3. The station is one of Miami’s cultural gems and G. Frederick Reinhardt, Chairman and CEO of Brickell Bank has been a member of the Friends of WLRN Board of Directors since 2013.

On Thursday, April 14, 2016, Fred participated live on air during WLRN’s fundraising drive and Brickell Bank sponsored a $2,500 challenge grant. Fred joined Peter J. Maerz, director of programming for WLRN radio at 8:00 a.m. and thanks to the generosity of listeners and Fred’s melodic voice, the grant was met by 8:15 a.m. Within moments, Fred, on behalf of Brickell Bank, offered up an additional challenge grant of $2,500 and that too was met within the following five minutes.

“I am thrilled that so many people tuned in during my appearance including colleagues, clients, friends and family. Working together is how we inspire each other, our clients and our community to support our cultural organizations and each other,” says G. Frederick Reinhardt.

Since January 1999, when the news/talk emphasis was added to WLRN’s programming, the audience has more than doubled WLRN also manages the Radio Reading Service, an invaluable resource for the visual and print handicapped in the community. Twenty-four hours a day, this unique service provides vital news, information, and literary enrichment for those who are not able to read for themselves. The service is broadcast over a private frequency and heard on special receivers provided to listeners without cost or obligation. Volunteers make this effort possible by reading newspapers, current periodicals, and books.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami hosted its annual Blitz Build, an accelerated construction event where 10 homes are completed over the course of 2 weeks, this year in the Perrine Area of Miami, between February 12 and 27th.

A handy team from Brickell Bank wielded brushes to paint the interiors on Tuesday, February 23.

Brickell Bank Celebrates National Job Shadow Day

National Job Shadow Day (“NJSD”) takes place annually on the second of February and is a national campaign providing teenagers with one-day, hands-on learning and mentoring experience.

“Brickell Bank once again participated in NJSD, a nationwide effort whereby hundreds of thousands of work places welcome millions of student shadows through their doors,” says Andrew Methven, chief operating officer, Brickell Bank. “Job shadowing is an academically motivating educational activity dedicated to giving kids and up-close look at the world of work,” continues Methven.

Nine high school sophomores from Miami Jackson Senior High joined the team at Brickell Bank. Students were paired with staff members from a variety of departments and attended presentations about the company and its operating subsidiaries and had close-up experiences with employees as they went through the typical workday.

Brickell Bank partnered with Miami Rescue Mission in their annual “Christmas in July Outreach” program.  The bank assisted with donations of shoes for children just in time for the back to school season.  The Mission serves the homeless and needy of South Florida, and Brickell Bank is proud to donate items in need throughout the year

Future Bankers’ Camp
The Center for Financial Training and Miami-Dade College School of Business annually conduct a Future Bankers’ Camp.  This program provides high school juniors with an intensive four-week program focused on the financial industry and related professional skills.  In June, Brickell Bank was delighted to host 2 students in this program to provide them with exposure in their path toward a possible career in the financial services industry.
